Providence Food and Nutrition Services Assistant in Spokane, Washington

Providence is calling a Food and Nutrition Services Assistant ( Food and Nutrition Services , Variable Shift, 0 FTE) to Providence St. Joseph Care Center in Spokane, Washington. We are a community of caregivers delivering every day on our Mission to provide compassionate care that is accessible for all – especially those who are poor and vulnerable.

In this position you will:

  • Assist in security and sanitation responsibilities of the kitchen.

  • Operate and takes care of equipment and work areas according to Washington State Health Department guidelines and facility sanitation and safety standards.

  • Sets up meal trays, checks for quality and accuracy, and delivers to nursing units and/or dining rooms.

  • Prepare and delivers special supplements/snacks to nursing units for residents.

  • Assist in food preparation as outlined on job activity schedule.

  • Comply with confidentiality guidelines.

  • Attend meetings and in services as directed.

  • Answer phone in Food & Nutrition Services Department.

  • Work assigned work schedule which includes weekends and holidays.

  • Adjust daily work assignments to ensure meal carts are delivered on time.

  • Complete cleaning checklist daily.

  • Wash dishes according to sanitation guidelines.

  • Use appropriate safety guidelines and precautions.

Required qualification for this position include:

  • Food Handler's Permit (or must obtain within 14 days of hire)

Preferred qualification for this position include:

  • 6 months previous food service experience

About the skilled nursing facility you will serve.

Providence St. Joseph Care Center in Spokane, Washington is located on the campus of Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center & Children's Hospital. Our Transitional Care Unit is designed for patients coming out of the hospital who need skilled nursing care, end of life care, or rehabilitation for those recovering from surgery or who have a functional loss from illness, disease, or an accident. Our Long Term Care unit provides skilled nursing in a residential setting, addressing the needs of our residents through creating a sense of community and home and providing a model of care that is resident-centered.
