Providence is calling a Personal Care Assistant and Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA/NAC) (1.0 FTE, Day Shift: Mon-Fri, 8am-4:30pm) to work in the PACE Redmond at Providence Elderplace in Redmond, WA.

The Personal Care Assistant and Certified Nursing Assistant (NAC) will assist participants in maintaining an environment consistent with their needs. Assists participants in their mobility exercises to help them be more independent for their activities and to maintain their current level of functioning. Provides care in a manner that assures participant satisfaction and retention. Assists participants in such activities as walking, transfers, use of mobility devices, getting to and from rest room, toileting, changing diapers and clothing, feeding, showering, getting in and out of transportation vehicles, socialization at the center. Knowledge and support of the mission and core values of the Sisters of Providence are important to successful performance, as are commitment to and demonstration of a spirit of teamwork. Personal Care Assistants work at the Center and assist on the vans.
In this position you will:
Provide or assist participants with personal care (e.g., bathing, dressing, toileting, oral and denture care, hair and skin, shaving, nail trimming). Take weight, vital signs and collect specimens as assigned
Assist with Multi-Purpose room activities as assigned
Assist with dining area set-up and distribution of meals and snacks as assigned
Assist with feeding and/or monitoring during meals. Assist with morning beverage service.
Assist on vans both morning and afternoons as needed. This includes assisting participants on/off the vans, escorting to/from residence and PEP, and wheelchair securement
Be responsible for monitoring participants when the van is in motion and notifying the driver if there is a problem. If contact with the center is needed while the van is in motion, the PCA should make this call
Help participants to move, turn, get in and out of bed, chair, or wheelchair; and ambulate with or without assistive devices
Maintain required documentation on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis
Report all pertinent observations of participants to appropriate medical staff or supervisor
Help maintain order and cleanliness of the center and its equipment and linens, including disinfecting furniture and other common use items
Demonstrate knowledge and appropriate behavior concerning infection control by proper handling of equipment, soiled clothing, bedpans, urinals, and adequate hand washing and use of gloves
Use lifting equipment as directed by care plan and the Rehabilitation department
Offer guidance or assistance to staff working in an unsafe manner
Qualifications:
Required qualifications for this position include:
Nurse delegation for nursing assistance training within 120 days
70 hours of basic training within 120 days
Mental health specialty training within 120 days
Dementia specialty training within 120 days
Current CNA license
Adult Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
Food Handler's Permit (or must obtain within 14 days of hire)
Long term care or related geriatric and/or rehabilitative experience
Preferred qualification for this position includes:
- Assisted living background.
