Description
CNA 2 – Clinical Decision Unit at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center. This posting represents a .9 FTE, night shift opening (7pm-7:30am, 3, 12 hour shifts per week) with rotating weekends.

In this position you will:
Contribute to a high functioning team
Assist RN with admissions, discharges, and transfers
Measure and record vital signs, output, and weights
Collect specimens and perform fingerstick capillary blood tests
Assist with client mobility and transfers, using lifts and safe patient handling devices
Opportunities for continuing education and professional development, including annual CNA conference
Other duties as assigned
The CNA 2/HUC is a key person within the decentralized nursing unit, who provides overall administrative and technical support in the operation of the unit; collaborates with other staff and leaders in the development, oversight, and operation of the unit; and performs CNA II patient care duties. Primary responsibilities fall into the following categories:
CLERICAL: Initiates and prioritizes transcription of provider orders. Assembles and maintains patient charts, current forms and results/reports.
COMMUNICATION: Serves as the hub of all communication for the unit. Displays professional interpersonal skills when communicating with patients, public and staff. Serves as front-line customer service representative.
COORDINATION/TEAM MEMBER: In conjunction with Charge Nurse is accountable for the efficient coordination of unit activities, including patient placement; working with other departments to coordinate patient care services; prioritizing and dissemination of information.
PATIENT CARE: Performs CNA II patient care duties under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse.

Required Qualifications:
Coursework/Training: Health Unit Coordinator or secretarial coursework along with a medical terminology course or experience. Or equivalent educ/experience.
Health Unit Coordinator: 1 year experience performing secretarial duties in a health care environment.
Coursework/Training: Completion of Oregon State Board of Nursing (OSBN) recognized Acute Care CNA 2 course. Or equivalent educ/experience.
CNA 2 coursework: Grandfathered to CNA 2 per OSBN requirements.
upon hire: Oregon Nursing Assistant Certification License.
upon hire: National Provider BLS - American Heart Association.
Experience with a variety of software applications.
Preferred Qualifications:
1 year Acute care hospital experience, ideally performing CNA and/or Health Unit Coordinator duties.
1 year Experience as a CNA 2.
