Hospice nurses will tell you what a privilege it is to care for patients at end of life and support family members who are coping with loss. We focus on patient’s hopes and wishes to improve their quality life.
As a hospice nurse, you will work closely with a team of caregivers to meet the individual care needs of each patient you serve. You will travel to your patients’ homes that are within Mason, Thurston, and Lewis Counties to provide care.

In this position you will:
Nursing care needs are assessed as needed for a defined group of clients; after a referral, an accurate history and physical exam will be performed; document assessment data within 24 hours of home visit.
Determine priorities of client care based on client's needs and available resources; manage time effectively; prioritize client's needs effectively.
Provide information to client & significant others regarding diagnosis, interventions & available resources.
Maintain open communication to client & significant others.
Assess, plan, implement & evaluate educational needs and readiness of client & significant others to learn; develop individualized teaching plan tailored to the client's goals; implement & document teaching plan; provide concise teaching materials & practical technique demonstrations that are for the home setting; modify plan after evaluation process as needed; provide or assist patient and significant others in obtaining equipment & supplies necessary to provide quality care; encourage compliance with therapeutic nursing and medical regimes.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Graduate of a school of nursing
Two (2) years nursing experience required
Current Washington State Registered Nurse License
Valid Washington State driver’s license, insured and reliable transportation
Healthcare Provider BLS/CPR certification
Preferred qualification for this position include:
- One (1) year hospice, home health, skilled nursing facility, medical/surgical, or oncology
