Job Information

Providence Dietitian - PKIMC Nutrition Counseling in Kodiak, Alaska

Description

Assessment of medical nutrition therapy needs based upon patient's medical diagnosis, laboratory values, anthropometric measures, medications, age-specific requirements, and other co-morbidity factors identified by the Registered Dietitian or other members of the health care team. Development, implementation, and management of an individualized, interdisciplinary team plan of care designed to achieve maximum nutrition support. Counseling and education of patient/family in the application of medical nutrition therapy principles that will be integral to patient's long-term recovery and health.

May include assessment of lactation support needs of obstetrical patients and newborns, based on delivery circumstances, feeding and growth indicators, and input from patient and other health care professionals. Provision of individualized lactation support to optimize patient breastfeeding goals. Acts as an advocate for breastfeeding and lactation consultant to medical staff as requested.

Hours: Full-time, 1.0 FTE, Day Shift, 40 Hours Per Week.

$10,000 Hiring Bonus for eligible external hires that meet required qualifications and conditions for payment.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree Food and Nutrition or related field.

  • Continuing education in accordance with policies determined by the American Dietetic Association for maintenance of registered status.

  • Within 6 months (180 days) of hire: Alaska Dietitian License Or

  • Within 6 months (180 days) of hire: Alaska Nutritionist License

  • Upon hire: National CDR Registered Dietitian - Commission on Dietetic Registration

  • Completion of a dietetic internship program.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Upon hire: Certified Diabetes Educator
