Job Information

Providence Senior Clinical Data Engineer in Gardena, California


Work independently with all levels of Core Leaders (System, Region, Service Area and Ministry) to lead teams, design advanced data sources, develop quality assurance processes, test multiple hypotheses, design challenging visualizations, use advanced contemporary data science techniques, provide ongoing training and facilitate multiple projects. Engage in the measurement of Quality and Value of Care (i.e. good outcomes per unit cost) in Post-Acute settings. Ensure that all work produced by the Clinical Analytics team is conducted with thoughtful analytical discipline, and will support other members of the team through experience with computational methods. Utilize advanced SQL and/or other languages for complex data acquisition. Design advanced data sources, views and summaries and creates functional data architecture. Develop quality assurance processes, perform data validation, and critically evaluate the output of reports to produce reports with high accuracy. Work with clients to develop and iteratively test multiple hypotheses around complex questions. Provide strong written summaries of findings and create presentations that succinctly address and anticipate the questions of the audience. Perform visualization design and complete challenging visualization projects. Provide ongoing analytic and general training to colleagues. Use advanced contemporary data science techniques and/or biostatistics to complete routine and complex projects. Allowed to telecommute full-time (reporting to our Gardenia, CA office) from a location within normal commuting distance to a Providence facility (AK, WA, OR, CA, MT, NM or TX.)

Required qualification:

  • Master’s degree in Health Information Management, Bioscience, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related clinical or analytic discipline.

  • Three (3) years of experience as Data Analyst working in a biomedical or clinical setting, or a closely related role.

  • Three (3) years of data analysis experience in a biomedical or clinical setting.

  • Three (3) years of experience with database structures, data definitions, and data relationships utilizing complex data models with multifaceted record relationships, key structures, and record identification schemas.

  • Two (2) years of administrative coding experience with DRG, ICD, and CPT.

  • Three (3) years of experience with: Database query and analysis languages; SQL; Data visualization tools in Tableau; and Quantitative analysis to interpret complex data for strategic projects and to conduct statistical analyses.

  • Experience with R, SAS, and Python.

  • All experience may have been gained concurrently.

Rate of Pay: $80,454 to $185,000 per year

About the Team

Providence Home and Community Care (HCC) is a service line within Providence with over 8,000 caregivers and 2,000 volunteers serving nearly 200,000 people a year, in their homes, in clinics and in a variety of congregate living ministries across our seven-state footprint.

HCC provides a full range of services and support for people of all ages, especially those facing chronic or life-limiting illnesses. Our core competencies include restorative care, longitudinal care and care through the end of life.
