Providence Chaplain - Home Health Snohomish in Everett, Washington

Providence is calling a Chaplain (Home Health Snomish, Day Shift, 0.6 FTE) to SCS Home Health in Everett, Washington. We are a community of caregivers delivering every day on our Mission to provide compassionate care that is accessible for all - especially those who are poor and vulnerable.

The Chaplain provides professional and competent spiritual care ministry, and is responsible for serving the spiritual, religious, and emotional needs of others primarily in home health setting and may support inpatient, outpatient and/or community settings. As a member of the healthcare team, the chaplain is directly responsible for the implementation of the mission, values, polices, and procedures of the Department of Spiritual Care and the facility in which they serve.

In this position you will:

  • Provides effective spiritual support and appropriate religious/spiritual resources that contribute to the well-being of the care recipients, their families, and caregivers.

  • Provides spiritual care that respects diversity and differences including, but not limited to culture, gender, and sexual orientation and spiritual/religious practices.

  • Triages and manages crises in the practice of spiritual care.

  • Facilitates group processes, such as family meetings, post trauma, caregiver debriefing, and support groups.

  • Formulates and utilizes individualized spiritual assessments, interventions, outcomes, and care plans to contribute effectively to the well-being of the person receiving care, and accurately and concisely documents this care in the appropriate records according to discipline standards (including electronic medical record) at the point of service.

  • Shares in department coverage to meet the patient care needs.

  • Promotes the integration of spiritual care into the life and service of the institution in which one functions.

  • Establishes and maintains professional and interdisciplinary relationships, including collaborative relationships with community clergy and faith group leaders.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Master's Degree in Theology, Divinity, Spirituality, Pastoral Ministry or the equivalent applicable education from an accredited institution.

  • CPE(Clinical Pastoral Education) 4 units—Accredited or approved by the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE), by programs that were accredited by the former United States Conference of Catholic Bishops Commission on Certification and Accreditation (USCCB/CCA), or the Canadian Association for Spiritual Care (CASC/ACSS). Equivalency for one unit of CPE (two units in CASC) may be considered.

  • Maintains board certification by professional chaplain organizations that follow the Common Competencies for Professional Chaplains, including the following: Association of Professional Chaplains (APC); National Association of Catholic Chaplains (NACC); National Association of Jewish Chaplains (NAJC); Association of Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE)’ or the Canadian Association for Pastoral Practice and Education (CASC).

  • Board certification documentation must be submitted to the appropriate HR systems within three years of hire date.

  • Valid driver’s license and auto insurance.

  • CPR/BLS certification if required per ministry/industry or state regulations.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Preferred 1 year experience in acute and long term/chronic care settings or hospice.
